In March of 2001, the Alaska Engineering Education Foundation (AEEF) Board established the AEEF Endowment. The goal of the Endowment is to provide a continuing source of funding for AEEF’s principal activities: the Mathcounts program and ASPE/AEEF Scholarships. Over the years, generous donors have contributed over $281,000 to help build the endowment; in return, the endowment has disbursed $30,000 (10.6%) to support engineering scholarships, the Mathcounts program, and general operation of the AEEF. The realized investment earnings of the Endowment are proportionately distributed to each of these three funds as they are received.
Someday Mathcounts could be funded by the Endowment or Mathcounts activities could be expanded to include more schools around the State. The goal for the Scholarship fund is to award several multi-year scholarships to worthy engineering students annually. The AEEF Scholarship Fund has supported eleven scholarships since 2005. The ASPE/AEEF scholarship committee manages the scholarship applications with the recipients announced during Engineers Week, held annually in February. The revenue for the General fund may be used at the discretion of the AEEF Board for administration expenses, to support new programs, one-time educational events, or to support Mathcounts or additional Scholarships. To have your contribution go specifically toward MATHCOUNTS or the AEEF SCHOLARSHIP FUND, please go directly to that page to make your contribution (see links above).
The establishment of the Endowment has been a major step forward for Alaska Society of Professional Engineers (ASPE) and AEEF. To make the Endowment effective, current investment conditions suggest a total ‘footing’ of about $800,000 for the fund. We encourage everyone to get behind the effort to make this a successful venture. In addition to individual contributions, employer contributions are also welcome. Contributors will be recognized on a cumulative basis and the Board will endeavor to update this recognition regularly. Visit our AEEF Contributors page for donor names and recognition levels.

Please make checks payable to “AEEF Endowment” and indicate the Fund or Funds to which your contribution is to be applied: Mathcounts, Scholarships, General. You may also participate through the Pick, Click, Give program with the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend program. However, we learned this year that the Permanent Fund Division has implemented a 7% administrative fee on such contributions: absent a matching gift through PCG, the most cost effective way to make a donation is with a personal or company check to the above address.
The AEEF Endowment was created under the tax exempt 501.c.3 provisions of the IRS code. All donations are fully tax-deductible.
